28 years ago a rock group called E.L.O. (Electric Light Orchestra) had a double LP called "Out Of The Blue" which featured a cover painting of outer space, complete with a colorful circular spacecraft with E.L O.'s logo. Now Newsweek has a cover of outer space featuring the 8 planets with a similar color scheme (and the planets are circular like the spacecraft). Somewhere Jeff Lynne is smiling or is hiring a lawyer.

Nesbitt survived outside, during the high winds & rain from Katrina and from the Summer heat & humidity, on his own for a month before his family returned. He immediately ate (see photo top right). After a year he has regained his weight and personality, but is no longer in New Orleans. He has also converted to being an indoor cat.

Air Canada Flight 0670 - June 29th, 2006

My email to any consumer reporters that would listen:

Hello. My name is Erik N Leopold and I have a story for you about terrible customer service by Air Canada. I was a passenger, like 120 others, who had the misfortune to be booked on Air Canada flight 0670, Montreal (YUL) to Halifax (YHZ), originally departing at 8:30 PM and was suppose to arrive (Halifax) at 10:55 PM. But due to the crew for the flight being delayed in Toronto due to weather (lightning), AC flight 670 was delayed. The crew arrived at 11:25 PM at YUL. Passengers boarded at 11:40PM. Once the plane was done loading, we had an announcement informing us we were being delayed again to refuel the plane (which had been sitting on the tarmac at the gate since 7PM, but due to FAA rules, could not be refueled without a crew). Once the fuel was loaded, we had another announcement informing us that due to a Montreal curfew, we could not take off after midnight, but that the crew was hoping for special permission. That never occuried and at about 12:30 AM we were informed to depart the plane.

Once everyone was out of the plane, we waited for a customer service agent or agents to inform us of the next move. It was around 1 AM and some agents arrived from Air Canada (3 people, 1 female and 2 males). Also 2 airport security personnel came and stood by the agents counters. It was late and some tempers were heard. The Air Canada agents informed us that flight AC 0670 was officially canceled and that we would be given a hotel room to stay and they would rebook us on flight for 10AM. They then proceded to write down our names. Well after 1:30 AM, the agents informed us what hotels we would be booked at (I was sent to Holiday Inn - Dorval/Airport). Air Canada mentioned they would send the passenger lists to whatever hotel we were sent, but when the throng of passengers (40) sent to the Holiday Inn arrived , the night clerk never received the list and was not prepared for our arrival.

If you want to interview me and the other passengers, we are booked for flight AC2670, Departing at 10:00AM at (YUL) Dorval Airport for Halifax (YHZ) (we all hope). I know you probably get many complaints about Air Canada, but I thought I would tell ours.

X-Men 3: X-tend your stay to the very end

The new X-Men movie, "X-Men: The Last Stand", is hitting theatres this Memorial Weekend and I advise all X-fans, stay until after the credits. Only a few of us informed audience members stayed and it was worth the wait. If Howard Stern had not mention the information about the ending on his radio show, I would have left during the credits.

I don't know if 20th Century Fox has advertised or alerted to the fact that there is something more to see after the credits, but if they didn't, word of mouth will have to be the way. If you missed the real end, don't worry, it was only about a minute long and basically was just a teaser for us true comic book fans. There is always the DVD to catch it later.

Now as for my review of the movie itself, let me just say 'bravo' to Brett Ratner, X3 director. He takes over the reins, handled in the previous two X-films, from Bryan Singer. Ratner is best known for the "Rush Hour" films with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. From the start of this movie, to the special effects, to the costumes, I was inthralled. You see, I collected the X-Men in my youth. Seeing the characters brought to life puts a huge smile on my face. When I was buying the X-Men comic books, the team consisted of Cyclops, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Banshee and Wolverine. But for the movies they had to pick the main characters that were the most popular. They did find ways to have some other characters in the films by way of Xavier's school and Magneto's brotherhood (of evil mutants). But I transgress.

The 3rd installment starts where the 2nd left off, the death of Jean Grey. The movie tackles prejudice like the 1st two films. In X3, the villians are Magneto & his band of evil mutants and a corporation, Worthington Industries, which is responsible for a mutant cure drug. If you are going to see a well scripted film, then stay home. This is a comic book action film, where the story and script take a back seat to the characters. It is action packed, with a brief halt here and there, from beginning to end. The special effects were top notch. The new characters that sent my heart pounding are Juggernaut, the Beast ("O my stars and garters") and even Angel.

The rest of the cast of characters we have seen in the previous films are Cyclops, Storm, Rogue, Mystique, Charles Xavier, Colussus, Kitty Pride, Iceman, Pyro and of course Wolverine. The action scenes are spectecular and I couldn't wait for the Wolverine vs. Juggernaut scene (you knew it was coming). There are some things in the film that disturbed me (X-Men fans will know what I am speaking of). But since it is suppose to be the last X-Men movie (wink, wink), I can understand why. And being a comic book world, everything can be 'fixed'. I will not give away anything, hence to say I enjoyed this movie tremendously. If there are only these three X-Men films made, then I can live with that. Before I sign off, I will say that X-Men: United (film #2) is the best of the three, with X3 my 2nd favorite. The first had to introduce the X-Men to the general public, so it was slow off the ground. Enjoy!
